Private islands are a very complex travel product, with lots of variables and high cost. Building a story from the ground up is no cheap exercise; you aren't just building a house - you need roads, docks, electricity, plumbing, everything from design and permits to construction is yours to invest in. Each island has a soul and a personality, just as their owners. Some come with private landing strips, others with music studios or specialty medical spa equipment. They aren't all beach resorts either - some are a mere 5-minute boat ride to a busy city, others are in the middle of the lake or covered in snow most of the year, a few are wheelchair-accessible, a couple are mosquito-free. They are worldwide - Australia, Fiji, Madagaskar, Norway, Seychelles, Panama, Cambodia, Caribbean, to name a few - and there are over a hundred of them.

In our collection, a private island is exactly what the name suggests - privately owned in its entirety. There are gorgeous properties out there that are a sole accommodation provider on their island, but there may be a national park next door which is open to all, or a small village of local residents nearby, so you may encounter trespassers enjoying too long of a beach walk or meet some lost day-trippers. This is not the product we focus on. The islands we inspect, vet and recommend have the ability to completely close it off to unwanted visitors and make it absolutely private. In case of a full buyout of a private island, this is of utmost importance as you are booking the entire place and all of its units for yourself, and you surely don't want any outsiders. Some of the islands are only available for full buyouts and don't take individual bookings of their units, but that's a minority. Most will need plenty of advance notice to block the place for your dates. We are able to walk you through how it works, where to go and when, what prices to expect, and ensure quick turnaround times as we have established contact with the on-site team in charge.
